On February 1st, 2023, a team of researchers from the University of Warsaw's Faculty of Management, in collaboration with an international group of scientists and business practitioners, began a three-year research project (Horizon Europe CSA) dedicated to sustainable economics.
Under the HORIZON-CL6-2022-GOVERNANCE-01-04 (HE CSA) grant, scientists from seven European countries have started a three-year research program focused on tangible results for the global economy, such as standardization of communication on labels of biomass-based products or a communication model between producers and consumers aimed at making sustainable decisions regarding the production and purchase of goods made from biomass.
"3 CO - Concise Consumer Communication Through Robust Labels For Bio-Based Systems (Horizon Europe CSA) is a research project aimed at proposing a framework for labelling systems and certification schemes (LCS) for bioproducts (BBP). The developed solutions are intended to contribute to a transparent and consistent system of communication between businesses and consumers (B2C) regarding bioproducts. In addition, it is also intended to support and motivate consumers to make sustainable purchasing choices. The project includes, among other things, interviews with stakeholders and quantitative and qualitative consumer research in 10 European countries. The result will be a set of recommendations for the certification system and digital solutions that engage consumers based on gamification and metareality mechanisms," said Dr. Agnieszka Wiśniewska, the head of the research group at the University of Warsaw's Faculty of Management.
The project is led by TEKNOLOGIAN TUTKIMUSKESKUS (VTT) from Finland, and the other consortium partners include B.T.G. BIOMASS TECHNOLOGY GROUP BV (Netherlands), NOVA-INSTITUT FUR POLITISCHE UND OKOLOGISCHE INNOVATION GMBH (Germany), UNIVERSITEIT UTRECHT (Netherlands), ENVIRONMENTAL COALITION ON STANDARDS (Belgium), ENIDE SOLUTIONS S.L. (Spain), UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW (Poland), ECOLOGIC INSTITUT gemeinnützige GmbH (Germany), and ISEAL Alliance (UK).
The project is being implemented at the Faculty of Management, which is represented in the project by a team of scientists consisting of Dr. Agnieszka Wiśniewska, Dr. Michał Mijal, Mgr. Edyta Barmentloo, Dr. hab. Prof. Ucz. Marcin Żemigała, Dr. Magdalena Marczewska, Dr. Katarzyna Liczmańska-Kopcewicz, and Mgr. Martyna Cieśla. The project's opening meeting took place in Helsinki.
